There is a rumor that the perpetrator of the Monsey chicken scandal has committed suicide. Does anyone have any details? Can this be confirmed?

I just stumbled upon this blog, and was quite surprised to see that my letter to the Voice regarding tearing dollar bills was posted here! Unfortunately, many of the displayed comments show complete ignorance on the subject.

Yes, it is illegal, as vhb points out. And yes, it is against Halacha. None of the Poskim write that Dina Dimalchusa Dina applies only when there is a possibility of Chillul Hashem (as suggested by anonymous). To the contrary, it is clear from them that it applies in all circumstances. Such flippant attitudes towards the law of the land cause much resentment & Chillul Hashem amongst the non-Jewish world at large.

By the way, I do not break driving laws either, and I actually PAID taxes this past year due to the fact that I reported all cash income too.
